It's Funny Friday
Squirrel Appreciation Day

Well, I don't have too much to write about today.  M says I don't have to post every Monday and Friday but I like to write.

Here is a picture of the center square M is using for the February Quilt (Valentine), that she is putting in her Etsy Shop next month.  This is our little Katrina pattern,  she is 3" tall and cotter pin jointed at the neck, with thread jointed limbs.

Let's talk about this SAD (Squirrel Appreciation Day).  Well, that's what it says on our Humane Society calendar.  We like the squirrels, even though they steal all the bird seed, can damage flashing on your roof, and are very good at just being annoying.  But - we like our squirrels.

Now that all the leaves are off the trees we can see how many nests there are around our property.  Heck, some of them aren't nests, they are condo's.  They are huge!

At one time we would buy the dried corn on the cobs and put that out for them so they would leave the bird feeder alone,  well let me tell you - they carried the cobs off into the woods and in a little while they were back eating the bird seed.  Last summer there was one hanging on the hummingbird feeder trying to figure out how to get a drink.  Honest, you had to see it to believe it.  Dad calls them rats with bushy tails.
"Um, excuse me, but the bird feeder needs filling!"

  2. Hi Miss Cindy,

Well, I do like to write. I often wonder why no publishing firm contacts me offering a writing job. Blah....

    Here's Mom -
    Hi Cindy,

That's all she had to read - now I have to live with that big, swollen, fiberfill head. I give up.

I have been watching for the package everyday - maybe today. I will let you know.

    Blessings,
    Joyce

  3. Hi girls,

LT seems to be dozing off in the corner. She was muttering something about a long week, but it's Friday night, we need to PLAY! At least you get Katrina to play with...

Lots of hugs and sticky, honey covered kisses.

  10. Hi Lena,

Welcome. Thank you for telling me about not having a translator on my Blog. Good grief, I never thought about it. Just assumed I had one. Oh well, I'm "fairly" new at blogging and it's just one of the things I didn't do.

    Thank you for your help.

    Hugs.

  11. Dear sweet Prudence. Your Mom is at it again! Listen, I always knew you were ...YOU! Do you know what I mean? Anyway..if you don't think I took you seriously, perish the thought!
My life would be SO bland ..bland is the word, with you wonderful bears in it.
I do need to dust though. I've heard sneezing coming from the LR corner cabinet (home to many of my family)telling me that it needs dusting. And BADLY!)
Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I totally "get it!"
    :)
Loved the little squirrel peeking in the window. Like anything, some are good, too many can be troublesome. Like people. Same thing! However, squirrels are MUCH cuter than people...don't you think?
    Yeah, me too! :)
    Zelda
(...don't ask! M named me that for today!) :)

  12. Hi Miss Mona,

M asked me for a name for you and it was MY NAME - Zelda.....don't ya just love it?

I think squirrels are precious. So, they eat stuff....so? I knew you would understand. We LOVE all animals.

Better get dusting, sneezing bears - yikes - we can get snot all over the place and it's really hard to get off a surface, not to mention each others fur. (o: Gotta love us!!!

    We LOVE you.

  13. Love little Katrina, she's adorable. As for the squirrel, well, he's very cute and I know they are extremely intelligent and lovable but... well, taking over the birdfeeder is one thing, but I hope there's no chance of them taking over this blog!! It's a Bear Blog and not a Squirrel blog, as long as they know that!!

I'm sure you can keep them in their place Prudence.

    Hugs, Nicki and Little Ted

  17. Dear Prudence,

Dad's right they are rats with bushy tails. You can have ALL our grey squirrels back, someone brought them to us as a present. Some present, they carry diseases that have nearly wiped out our native red squirrels, and the reds are so much sweeter.
