Jessie's "Mater" Plant

It's Funny Friday
Jessie's Tomato Plant
Nope, still green...
Nope, just herbs in this pot...

What? I don't like maters.

It's that time of the year again for "Jessie's Mater Plant".  Last year we had awful tomato growing weather, it was too hot and too dry, and every insect & disease known to humankind attacked our "maters".

This year I picked out 1 mater plant for Jessie and we planted it on the deck, in a big pot by the French doors.  Here is the "traditional" story:
♥♥♥
Three years ago M & D planted a cherry tomato plant by the French doors that lead into the family room.  One day Molly & Jessie were coming in from the yard and as Jessie walked past the plant she took one tomato off and ate it.  We thought that was so cute, and it continued - only one little tomato and only when she was coming into the family room, and never a green tomato.  So, that became Jessie's "Mater" plant.

Jessie loves tomatoes, Mom can be slicing one in the kitchen and before you know it there she is, sitting quietly next to Mom - waiting.  Mom gives her a piece and she just eats it and waits for more.  Molly doesn't like veggies, but she will eat carrots, but only if they are steamed, oh, and maybe a few green peas.  They both love canned pumpkin, Mom has it in the pantry in case of them having "tummy troubles" if you know what I mean.

See you next Friday.  Have a beary nice weekend.

  3. Jessie what is wrong with you liking matters. I guess they would be alright if they had sugar sprinkled on them. Hey Jess, can you tell us why you eat them coming into the house and not when you are going out of the house? Is it a doggy thing....

  4. Jessie is so cute but maters?? What's with that? Why not peanut butter and honey? That's what we like. Wouldn't it be great if we could have a peanut butter and honey plant growing right there by the kitchen door? Hehehe.
Hope you're feeling better than new Prudence. Only 63 more sleeps until we get to see you at camp.
Have a great weekend and do something special for your mom. Sunday is a special day just for moms and we're trying to think of something extra special we can do for our mom.
    Hugs,

  11. Hi Prudence,

We tried to comment on the train home from London on Friday, but Alan's iPad wouldn't let him, so here we are to-day.

Alan told me about your friend Maisie and her maters. I think she's very clever, I don't think I could do that, but I'm only wee.

You seem to have fully recovered from your bearcedure, so that's good. I'm off again on the road to-day and I'll try to get some more posts done soon.

    Lots of hugs,

    Jock (and Alan)

  15. Ooh - what good taste you've got! That's Rosie - she loves all fruit and veg. However, Monty just stares at it and then at Susan and then back at the veg and then at Susan and then walks off all stiff-legged as if he's been offended by the very idea! Jeff-Dog doesn't go for fruit and veg either. He just pretends it's not there. Anyway - hope you get a bumper crop. Love from us
