More Easter and spring decorations...

Mrs. Goldenrod is available in our

now...for the tour
Dining Room
The sweet little bunny plates are from Hallmark® they came in a set of 4, yellow, green, pink, and blue.  The placemats I found at Kohl's two years ago.  They are the same colors as the plates.
My beautiful and precious Mom hand painted these for me many years ago, they live in the china cabinet where I can see them but for April and May they are on the dining table.  They are one of my most loved treasures.

Well, it's about that time again, we will see you next Friday and we will wrap up the tour.

How Many?

It's Funny Friday
by Prudence

Happy Thanksgiving, hope you had a wonderful day with family and friends.
It's the normal "frantic" day after (but plenty of leftovers for the weekend), Mom is all wired, shouting orders to me and Dad.  Molly Brown and Jessie are sound asleep on the bed, visions of leftovers dancing in their heads.
Mom did her best decorating last year, we moved here on 11/16 so with the tons of unpacking, Thanksgiving and then Christmas she didn't get all the things done that are her "traditions".  Well, this year it's "full blown out Christmas". Let's see, trees in the den, family room,  dining room, craft room, kitchen, and the laundry room.  How many is that?  Only 6?  Shh...please don't say that to her, PLEASE!
Well, let's begin with the outdoor decorations - okay, you can't see the front of the house from the lane, we live on a mountainside, our "drive by" traffic consists of the bunnies, squirrels and wild turkeys (let's just call it our foot traffic).  Hope they enjoy her effort.  I'll show you those pictures next week.
Okay, so far......"roll that Christmas tree footage"

Oops,  technical difficulties (Mom is being difficult) I am not allowed (e x c u s e  me) to do the "tour" until next week.  Can you tell, Mom is tired and cranky?  Ah, these family traditions.
Dad, Mom NEEDS a turkey sandwich!

Shh....what she doesn't know won't hurt her (giggle).  See ya next week.

Fall Decorating

It's Funny Friday

Good Friday Morning.
I'm taking a break from Main Street USA travels, I want to show you our fall decorations and then it will be time for the autumn leaves.  I want to do a few posts on our fall since it's our first here in WNC.
This is Wendi & her Pumpkin House.  Wendi was our first little mouser from Miss Carol.
Mom made her house from a craft pumpkin, Dad does the electrical in all of Mom's roomboxes.
and by night....Mr. Bones guards over the house and Miss Wendi.
Dining room decorations
I made this squirrel centerpiece several years ago.  I went to our local nursery and they set up a little worktable for me and I just went to town picking and choosing.
This little cutie is Miss Pumpkin, the first and only doll I ever made.  My friend over at
Terra De Duendes gave an online workshop two years ago.  We had the pattern then dressed her the way we wanted, the theme was Halloween.
Last year this little girl was all tucked away in a packing box waiting for the movers but this year she has the place of honor in our little dining room, perched on the hutch.  Birdie is her little pet crow.  This was the first time I ever painted fabric and I enjoyed learning that technique.  I then used it to paint little pumpkins on her apron.

Okay, I gave Mom a little wiggle room and let her write about some of our decorations.  I like the centerpiece and Miss Pumpkin, she did good

Have a wonderful September weekend.

Flower Rescue?

It's Funny Friday
by Prudence

This may be a first...there are all kinds of rescue, but here is a new one - flower rescue.  Let me explain, M&D  were in the grocery store parking lot and all of a sudden Mom stoops down and picks up ------are you ready for this?  FLOWERS.  No, your eyes aren't playing tricks on you.  FLOWERS.  There was this little stem of carnations, light green ones, and she said that if she didn't pick them up some mean, old tires would run over them.  Gulp!
Dad had questions, but Mom was TALKING to the flowers - honest.  She was telling them how bee-u-tee-ful they were and that they were coming home with her and will have a nice big drink of water.
What can I say?  We love her just b-claws (giggle), but you have to agree she is just a little bit "daffy".  They came home and it was all about the flowers, and they sit in the kitchen just as purtty as can be, M says that they are happy.  Okay........let's all agree with her.  (Going to dial up the man with the BIG butterfly net.)

CHRISTMAS DECORATING

And then there's.........Christmas decorating.  I always write about this on the day after Thanksgiving.  It's the day that Mom is transformed from a gentle, loving person to a SUPER MOM-STER.  I'm serious, her eyes are glazed over, she is drooling out the side of her mouth, her teeth are all snarly, she has boxes in every room, yes EVERY room - potty rooms don't stand a chance.  She is shouting orders to me and Dad, LuLu & Flora are hiding in a closet someplace, Molly & Jessie won't come near her.....ah, the loving, peaceful season of Christmas.  Yeah, maybe at your house, but here?  NOT!  I just told you she rescues thrown away flowers and look at her now!!!
We don't dare ask for a turkey sandwich, Dad just goes in the kitchen and makes one for us, I suggested that we put Mom's on a stick and push it at her from a distance.
It's going to be a  l-o-n-g  weekend, but hopefully on Monday our real Mom will be back.  Sunday night she will just pass out in front of the telly, so maybe I will pick out one of her favorite Christmas DVD's and Dad will set it up and we all will snuggle with her and watch together.  But once again she turns the whole house into a bee-u-tee-ful Christmas wonderland.  Thanks Mom for all that you do.

See ya next week....

Let there be Christmas trees...

"It's the most wonderful time of the weekend"

Here we go again, Mom a/k/a The Christmas Decorating Elf is making life difficult for us.  She is shouting orders, giving everybear a special task and the house is a mess,  a total wreck, I tell you.

Let's see, I counted 3 Christmas trees up for Thanksgiving, Dad is working on putting the lights on the HUGE living room tree, my craft room wee tree is up and the it looks so beary sweet.

The little tree in the kitchen is done, the one in the laundry room (easy, peasy cause it just has lights).  Now she is working on the tree in the entry way, "how many is that Dad?"  "TOO MANY, Prudence."  Eight, no wait I must have miscounted - 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 - nope, I didn't make a mistake.

I need a turkey sandwich.  BREAK TIME!  NAPPY TIME!  Where's my blankie?  What?  We can quit for the day?  Honest?  Whew...my job is done.  Tomorrow Dad has to decorate the outside and then help M with the greenery on the banisters (we have 3, in the entry way, & upstairs) then he gets to work alone  putting the lights on that.  He looks tired,  M has dark circles under her eyes but she won't quit.  Molly Brown & Jessie are stretched out on the bed sound asleep with visions of doggy treats dancing in their heads (giggle), I just made that up.

Tonight we get to watch a Christmas movie, and I get to pick one.  Yippee.  I have a wonderful life, a good M&D, sweet puppies, and LuLu & Flora.  They didn't even lift a paw to help us.  They say they need to stand guard over our wee tree.  Huh?  Like who lives here that would even dare to think about touching that tree?

We're standing guard over our wee tree.
"Okay, LuLu, if anybear dares touch our wee tree you grab their hand and I'll bite it.  Nobeary messes with our wee tree."
