Is it still winter?

It's Funny Friday
by Prudence

This is what it SHOULD look like.

This is what it feels like.

Hi Gang.

What's with this crazy weather?  We had temps in the teens, and last week we hit 70 one day.  Sadly, I don't think we will be getting any SNOW this winter.  Dad's snow blower sits in the corner of the garage all set to go to work, but.....................no snow.

Goofy Flora thinks just because it's February it should be cold.  If she would take off her stupid blankey she would realize it's warmer than it should be, but she's a stupid little kid and does things her way.

That's about all for now, see ya next week.

The Beast

It's Funny Friday
by Prudence

This is the conversion between Mom and Dad a few weeks ago (AFTER our first big snowstorm).

M - are you going to finally look for a snowblower?
D - yes, I've been looking and I think I've found what I want.
M - okay, are you going to order it?
D - I did yesterday.
M - how long before it gets here?
D - it's coming freight from Ohio.
M - freight?
D - yes, it's 250 lbs.
M - huh (thinking, what the heck did he buy)
 Four days later......
D - the snowblower is being delivered today.
M - yippee.
D - I will take your SUV down the driveway and meet the driver.
M - why?
D - I told you, it weighs 250 lbs. and I am going to have to tow the crate up with the trailer hitch.
M - crate?
D - yes, it's 250 lbs.
M thinking "so how big can a snowblower be, maybe the size of our lawnmower?"
and so, The Beast is now a member of the family, I give you

THE BEAST
(and yes it has headlights and HEATED handles, I asked about a CD player and cup warmer for hot chocolate - I just got "the look", hey they were honest questions (o:

Tuesday
 "Carsicle"

Hi Guys,
Just a quick note, I'm playing and having so much fun but I wanted to say
"Hi"
More snow...

 "Snow Play"

It's almost March, yippee, just a little closer to spring.  Can't wait to see the spring bulbs M&D planted last fall.  The daffodils bloom everywhere, even on the side of the roads, big, bee-u-tee-ful clumps of daffs all over the place.  When they are in bloom I will take some pictures.
Heaps of Hugs, see you next week.

So, Snow?

It's Funny Friday
by Prudence

Wow, it's been a cold week up here in the mountains.  Mom and I were outside (briefly) and saw two little daffodils poking up, now we are worried that they will be okay.  And the Pussy Willows are just so perky, it's amazing that in February they can bud.  Mom told me that when she was little her parents had a huge plant and when the fuzzy's bloomed she thought that if she petted one and talked to it it would become a kitten.  Just leavin' that one alone, but I bet she was cute taking care of that one fuzzy.
The weather this week:
Wednesday afternoon:

Wednesday morning:
Little Pussy Willow encased in ice
Poor little Daffodils
This is our newest baby pine, and he is covered in ice too.
And then...SNOW
View from the back porch.  When I stepped out to take the picture I frightened the birds.

Tuesday Morning 2/17 - ice storm, that's not snow but ice.

Almost Heart's Day

It's Funny Friday
by Prudence
I received a special Valentine card, that's all I'm sayin'
Thank you....you are beary special to me too "W".  Sigh...

Oh boy, gosh, gee whiz, not fair, - I have my new sled all ready for the snow but NO SNOW.  Come on guys, let the flurries fall.

Hi Everybeary,
Guess you can tell I'm in a grumpy mood (I was until I got my special Valentine's Day card) - well, I'm ready to sled but I can't race down the driveway (Prudence, please don't even think about sledding down our driveway, it would be suicide)
on concrete!
Okay, let LuLu & Flora go first.
"PRUDENCE!"

It's Friday the 13th - no biggie here, yesterday was the 12th and tomorrow will be the 14th - WAIT- the 14th?  Valentine's Day?  Oh, I know what my surprise will be - SNOW! Or not!  Sigh...it sure is bitter cold...brr....
Mom won't let Daisy Mae, Tony or Toby go farther down the driveway, she treats them like lil kids!

But, anyway, I wish you all a very Happy Valentine's Day, with lots of love and puppy kisses (here's your kisses from our Jessie and Molly Brown).

I call this "view at the top".

P.S.
For those of you who are new to my Blog, yes - it is unusual, but remember, my Mom marches to a very different, whimsical beat.  Lots of people don't really understand her - but I do and that's what counts. We want this to be a happy, silly place where friends can escape from the real world. (Sometimes I want to escape to the real world!)  Love you bunches

The 35' Frasier Christmas Tree is delivered at Biltmore Estate

Twas a dark and overcast morning, just perfect for the pomp and circumstance of the Biltmore Estate Christmas Tree delivery. The tree is a 35' Frasier (Frasier's are originally from NC, discovered by Mr. Frasier, and now are very popular in England).
The tree is unloaded by employees, carried into the main dining room and up righted by hand.  It was a wonderful morning and a sight that I will long remember.  Did a bit of shopping at The Christmas Shop (Passholders Appreciation Day with a 20% discount throughout the estate).  November 7 through January 11 (2015) the decorations are displayed.  Half way through all the live greenery (including the trees) is replaced with fresh greens and trees.  It is done overnight while  the estate is closed.
Prudence stayed all snuggled in her blankie in the car, she is coming down with the sniffles, we bought her a wonderful Christmas CD of an old music box collection of Christmas songs.  She has been playing it non-stop.  She sends her hugs and she will see you next week.
